KOSMEK Diecast Clamp Systems

KOSMEK die-casting machine/magnesium mold clamp is a clamp system designed to improve productivity and save energy even under severe conditions.

The main requirements for proper operation of a die-casting machine/magnesium mold clamp are:(1)high temperature proof(due to the extrame high temperature during molding) and (2)resistance to stains and spattering molten metal(a cause of most malfunctions due to the lubricant wold releasing agent in the movable part of the clamp). To ensure these qualities(avoid these influence),KOSMEK incorporates its extensive knowhow in clamps for thermal forging presses and plastic molding equipment.

GB-Y Clamp

The clamp holds the mold counter to the force that aparts (mold opening force) of the product from the mold when the machine opens the mold after molding.
Therefore, the mold opening force of the machine is the maximum load applied to the clamp. Since 4 clamps are usually mounted, one each, on the stationary and the movable platen, 25% or more of the mold opening force is determined to be the required clamp capacity. The mold opening force for the toggle type is not defined in the specification. It is recommended to determine the type of clamp, assuming that approx. 10% of the mold closing force is the mold opening force.

Ex.:

Die cast machine with 3500 kN
Mold opening force = Mold closing force of machine × 10% = 3500 × 0.1 = 350
Therefor it can be assumed that the mold opening force is 350 kN.
Require clamping force = Mold opening force ÷ Number of clamps = 350 ÷ 4 = 87.5 ≧ 98.0

According to the table above (clamp specification), GB1000-Y would be the appropriate choice.

Hydraulic unit CT50N1,CT5N31

The hydraulic units for the diecast / magnesium mold clamping system are protected by a dust-protection hood against lubricants/dust particles and high temperature.
Pressure gauges are provided for each circuit and are available as an option for source pressure.
In addition, to prevent the hydraulic circuit from overheating the machine is equipped with a pressure valve and an alarm that warns when pressure is too high due to incorrect lubrication.
When it is difficult to install the unit directly on the machine, an additional support stand is available as a stand-alone type. Please specify your actual machine environment so that we could advise on the most suitable types.

Operation control YMB051-Y

Similarly to the hydraulic unit, the operation control panel (being closest to the molding area) is covered with the dust-proof cover due to considerations of lubricant and/or high temperature.

Installation
Our specialists will drill the mounting holes, install the system and perform piping and wiring(*1) in a responsible manner, whether it is a new system or an upgrade to an existing one.
*1:Please ask the manufacturer of the machine to modify the electric wiring (control) on the machine.
